Abstract
A number of studies were conducted to demonstrate multiplex imaging of pancreatic cancer cells, using functionalized quantum rods (QR). These studies demonstrated that multiplex imaging is a useful mode of in vitro microscopic imaging of pancreatic can cells. These studies conducted investigations that revealed that QR probes of different colors can be used with greater success for multiplex imaging in comparison to organic fluorophores. It was demonstrated that these QR probes can label overexpressed receptors on specific cancer cell lines. The study also proposed the use of CdSe/CdS/ZnS QRs, conjugated with various cancer specific biomolecules for multiplex labeling of live human can cells. QRs of two different emission colors were used in the study, as a first demonstration of multiplex imaging of cancer cells.
