Abstract

The morphological control of tapered and multi-junctioned carbon tubular structures was studied. The growth of multi-walled carbon nanotubes was accomplished using transition metal catalysts such as nickel and iron. It was found that these morphologies exhibit thin walls (10-30 nm) and very large internal diameters (up to 2.5 μm), suitable for micro-/nano-fluidic, drug delivery, and nanoelectronic applications.
