Abstract

The molecular weight of fluorocarbon end-capped polyester ultrathin films was investigated. The number-average molecular weight of polymers having one functional end group, was determined on the basis of the angle dependent electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). The results obtained were compared with that measured by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and size exclusion chromatography (SEC). The SEC analysis gave information about the molecular weight distributions, and the presence of residual monomers.
