Abstract
Charles Karsner Mills (1845-1931), perfected methods to use electrical stimuli of the cerebral cortex of alert humans to localize sites of their seizures. Mills meticulously recorded the neurological examination of patients and then correlated those findings with their brain autopsies to localize functions in human brain and spinal cord. He described a form of transcortical motor aphasia and effective methods to rehabilitate aphasic patients. Mills wrote The Nervous System and Its Diseases.
