Microscopic Theory of the Helium Liquids: Past, Present, and Future

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This review discusses first our present microscopic understanding of the neutral quantum liquids 4He and 3He. Quantum liquids in non-uniform geometries such as adsorbed or free films and clusters lead, due to symmetry breaking, to a number of new and interesting effects and, thus, to new experimental possibilities and theoretical challenges. Finally, we highlight some open problems where new microscopic techniques will be needed.
