Abstract
A 08 tesla magnetoreflectivity study of GaAs-AlAs multiple quantum wells at 5 K has been performed. Interband excitonic transitions are observed between the first two heavy-hole subbands and the first two electrons subbands. The transitions are identified as involving the ground state and several excited states of both heavy-hole excitons. A theory is developed which accounts for the coulomb potential of the exciton, the magnetic field, and quantum-well confinement. Good agreement between theory and data is obtained for the first heavy-hole exciton; however a discrepancy is noted for the second heavy-hole exciton.
