Abstract

This paper describes the steps taken in the development of a modular ferrocement roof element to be used with linear metal components in a long span roofing system. The ferrocement units form a continuous layer receiving the applied loading and act as the roof enclosure. The paper suggests a number of practical designs for the integrated system. Also reported are the results of preliminary experimental and numerical studies of the ferrocement unit.
