Lennert's lymphoma

In 1968, Lennert and Mestdagh separated from 50 cases of Hodgkin's disease a particular variant which they called epithelioid-cell lymphogranulomatosis. This form of Hodgkin's disease was histologically characterized by massive infiltration of small foci of epithelioid cells in rather regular arrangement. Seven years later, Lennert et al. in their classification of malignant lymphomas considered that this 'variant' of Hodgkin's disease was indeed an independent lymphoma, and used the term lymphoepithelioid cellular lymphoma. Ever since the publication by Lennert and Mestdagh, several reports have appeared dealing with the subject. Now we present a case that we believe fulfills the criteria originally described by Lennert and Mestdagh.
