Abstract

SDS-polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis was carried out on perfusate samples from cat adrenal glands perfused with 3H-leucine in the presence and absence of ACTH. ACTH increased the rate of incorporation of label into specific protein components, whose apparent molecular weights were 48,000 and 58,000, respectively. Although the function of these labile protein components is still unknown, these observations confirm previous findings that protein synthesis and secretion occur concomitantly with steroid secretion.
