Abstract

The main theme of this work is to use realistic ISAR data for an airborne DC-9 to exhibit some of the difficulties associated with processing ISAR data and interpretation of a reconstructed ISAR image, and methods to address these issues that are based on ISAR signature spectral properties of a moving target. In particular, we show the utility of spatial Doppler (slow-time Doppler) processing of ISAR data in the target's velocity and acceleration estimation and its image formation. ISAR coherent speckle (dominant reflector) effect and signal processing methods in the measurement domain to encounter it are discussed.
