IRMA: New Era for Interstellar Travel

The present study introduces a conceptual mission consisting of two identical spacecraft with the intent to venture out into interstellar space beyond the Kuiper Belt and where the heritage mission Voyager resides as of January 2025. The IRMA mission is developed to revolutionize the scientific understanding of the universe (i.e., searching for extraterrestrial life, understanding planetary formation, improving models of the Solar System, etc.). The spacecraft is designed to house enhanced technology and a new set of robust scientific payloads to increase the domain of scientific research conducted while also furthering the ability to reach other star systems in one lifetime by refining the knowledge of the interstellar region.
