Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of this GeoAI handbook. It begins by highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of GeoAI studies and reviews the historic roots of GeoAI. It then presents the organization structure of this book, followed by a brief summary of each chapter. It concludes with key research questions and editors’ reflections on the development of GeoAI. The editors advocate for research endeavors dedicated to the development of responsible, unbiased, explainable and sustainable GeoAI models to support geographic knowledge discovery and beyond. A list of GeoAI tools and resources is appended at the end.
