Abstract

This chapter examines the recent flow of foreign direct investments into the US. The focus is on the conceptual frameworks associated with the international direct investment decision and on the empirical research on such investments in the US. The analysis considers the direct investment patterns of European, Canadian and Japanese subsidiaries, with emphasis on their national and sub-regional locational patterns.
