Abstract

An interference quenching of the v''=1 vibrational line was observed in the resonant Auger decay of N 1s→π* core-excited N2. The intensity ratio for the X2σ+g state showed a nonmonotonous variation with a detuning ω. A simple model was developed, which indicated a linear relation between the value σcs for this minimum and the equilibrium bond distance R0c.
