N2 - PROVPLAN, an interactive provider scheduling program, has been developed to assist planners and schedulers in the preparation of weekly provider schedules for ambulatory health care facilities. The user is required to enter three sets of data: system, suite or office, and provider-specific data. These form a composite set that is used by a provider scheduling algorithm to generate a feasible schedule based on the input constraints and the providers' preferences for working weekdays, evenings and weekends. PROVPLAN can also be used in a long-range planning mode for the purposes of evaluating the expansion or reduction of capacity and the utilization of an existing facility(s) or for planning new facilities.
