Abstract

The strain-sensing ability of carbon fiber-reinforced cement was improved by ozone treatment of the fibers. The improvement pertains to better repeatability upon repeated loading (electrical resistance not decreasing from cycle to cycle) and increased gage factor (fractional change in electrical resistance per unit strain).
