Abstract

An investigation of 10 critical care units recorded nurses' perceptions of the positive and negative aspects of their work settings. There should be cooperation between nurses and architects during the planning stages of design. It would be beneficial to include nurses on hospital planning boards and committees so that their needs, especially in the critical care areas, can be identified.
