Abstract

A previous work has set forth a theory of `syntactic semantics' as a way of understanding how computers can think. This essay explores the ramifications of this theory with respect to holism and conceptual-role semantics. After defending conceptual-role semantics, it is shown that syntactic semantics is conceptual-role semantics.
