Abstract

Two cases of hemiplegia are reported; one patient had auricutoventricular rhythm, and the other, complete heart block. The latter patient came to autopsy, and widespread encephalomalacia in the area supplied by the middle cerebral artery was found. No thrombi were found in the arteries. The obstruction may have been in the artery in its course through the carotid canal or the cavernous sinus.
