'GROUP TECHNOLOGY: A USEFUL TOOL FOR PRINTED CIRCUIT MANUFACTURING'.

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articlepeer-review

Abstract

A significantly valuable tool for printed circuit manufacturing is Group Technology (GT). Group Technology can be characterized as the operating management philosophy based on the recognition that similarities exist in the design, manufacture, sales and support of discrete products. By using GT, printed circuit products can be classified into product families to take advantage of a means to simplify production planning and scheduling, and as a result, to increase factory efficiency and reduce manufacturing cost. The benefits of using GT in the entire manufacturing has been reported to have 10% to 80% savings in product design, drawing, production and quality control costs, setup time, throughput time, raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods inventory, and over 30% of increase in employee production output rate.
