Abstract

The thermodynamics of adsorption of three fluid phase meeting at a line of common contact was analyzed geometrically. The linear excesses per unit length of the contact line of the fluid's component were also analyzed. It was observed that in a plane, which is perpendicular to a three-phase contact line, the locus of choices or the location of that line which makes the linear adsorption λ i of any one component i vanished, was a rectangular hyperbola. The results show that two such hyperbola may intersect in two or four points.
