Abstract
Knowledge of genetic influences on human obesity has dramatically advanced in recent years. However, data that documents the critical role of genetic factors have also provided some of the strongest support for the importance of the environment. This article clarifies common misconceptions about the role of the environment and the potential for behavioral intervention.
