Abstract

This chapter offers a broad look at the commonly encountered conditions. The issues covered here are ones that comprise a large proportion of a general pediatrician’s practice. Abdominal pain is covered comprehensively, including acute abdominal pain, chronic abdominal pain, and recurrent abdominal pain. Functional gastrointestinal disease is discussed in the context of the Rome criteria. Within the section on abdominal pain is description of pancreatitis and gallbladder disease. Discussion of liver disease including inborn errors, infections and autimmune diseases of the liver.
