Abstract

A computer-aid for integrating and applying expert knowledge within the domain of seismic analysis of existing buildings is presented. The approach taken is to model components of the evaluation procedure using traditional expert systems, and then integrate these systems together within a 'blackboard' style architecture. Control of the resulting system is provided by the methodology of ATC-14. Knowledge representation, handling of uncertainty, and other implementation issues are discussed.
