Abstract

The realization of a spin filter in open quantum-dot systems using Fano resonances was discussed. In quantum dots, in which the spin degeneracy of carriers was lifted, the Fano resonances were found to be used as an effective means to generate spin polarization. The electrical detection of the spin polarization was also analyzed.
