Abstract
Recent developments in power- and nano-electronics were discussed. Critical problems associated with nanoscale electronics and operating power electronics in harsh environments were investigated. A 60-kW power converter has been developed by the Electronic Packaging Lab at the University at Buffalo for the US Navy that can operate at extremely high temperatures and vibration levels. It is hoped that in future, technologies will be applied to help design packages in sensors used for environmental and chemical sensing for use in automotive and aerospace industries.
