Abstract

An Expert System was developed for making optimal release decisions in a reservoir system. A dynamic programming model is used to generate optimal release decisions from the historic inflow sequences. These optimal policies together with the linguistic descriptions of the system performance are incorporated into the expert as knowledge base. The developed expert system is demonstrated for the operation of the Krishnagiri reservoir system of Tamilnadu State, India. (A)
