Abstract

The ultrafast resonant optical Kerr effect has been experimentally studied in a polymer film-poly (2.5-thienylene vinylene) film. In experiment, the same laser system as the one used in paper [4] was applied and the arrangement for Kerr gate was given in the paper. The poly (2.5-thienylene vinylene) (PTV) film with a thickness of 1.5 micrometers was synthesized according to the method reported by Tokito et al. A optical Kerr susceptibility Xk(3) of 3×10-11 esu is obtained. A bimolecular decay is used to explain the dependence of dynamics of the Kerr signal on the incident light intensity.
