Abstract
A versatile compressed air powder redispersing ejector (CAPRE) has been designed and tested for the generation of high density aerosols from powder materials. The CAPRE is a pneumatic type powder ejector. It operates by aspirating powder into a high velocity airstream flowing through a fine nozzle. The high velocity gradients provide the shear force necessary to overcome the adhesion forces binding particles of the aggregate. Several models have been tested for air flowrates of 2 scfm using a single nozzle to 200 scfm using a compact multinozzle ejector. Various paint pigments have been tested for dispersibility and size distribution using a Scanning Electron Microscope and the 11-stage low pressure impactor.
