Estimation of pulmonary arterial input impedance using wavelets

Abstract

Pulmonary arterial input impedance was evaluated at specific phases through the respiratory cycle at positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) level of 10 cm H2O. The impedance spectrum was obtained via the wavelet method. With this approach, it is possible to obtain smooth input impedance spectrum over the entire frequency argument with a limited data set of pulmonary arterial pressure and flow over only a few respiratory cycles. As a result, the pulmonary input impedance spectrum was determined on a beat to beat basis throughout the respiratory cycle.
