Abstract
Endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion is supported by class I evidence from multiple randomized trials. This has created fundamental changes in stroke systems of care worldwide. In this chapter, the authors discuss the key principles of clinical and imaging evaluation of acute stroke patients, review the main approaches to endovascular mechanical thrombectomy, and overview the composition of a stroke center team.
