Abstract

The electrochemical behaviors of amorphous and crystalline ruthenium oxide materials were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) in the electrolyte of sulfuric acid solution. The CV scans were performed both in one whole-range and two half-ranges within the electrochemical stability windows of the systems. It was found that the amorphous materials, as compared to the crystalline ones, had higher specific capacitance, wider operating potential range, and more symmetrical current distribution in these ranges. The possible implications of electrochemical behaviors to the performance of capacitors made with these materials as electrodes were discussed.
