Abstract

A study was performed on the effect of catalyst composition on carbon nanotube (CNT) growth. Transmission electron microscopy was used to investigate the composition of individual catalyst particles and the morphologies of CNT. It was found that the morphology of the CNT was determined by the composition of the catalyst particle at a CNT tip and the distribution of cobalt within the particle.
