Abstract

Jackson and Christian's documentary films (among which are Death Row 1979, Out of Order 1983, and Creeley 1988) have been screened by the Museum of Modern Art, the Arsenal in Berlin and other institutions. The films have won awards in many international film festivals, and have been broadcast on television in the United States and Europe. Many issues raised in their film about condemned men in Texas are explored in their book on the same subject. Death Row. Earlier versions of these papers were presented at Johns Hopkins University. Jackson is the author of the first paper; and Christian the author of the second.
