Abstract
The work described in this paper concerns the dynamic behavior of asymmetric base isolation systems consisting of laminated rubber bearings and hysteretic dampers. It is shown in this analysis that if the stiffness of bearings and the number and orientation of hysteretic dampers are properly selected (optimization) torsional coupling can be neglected even at very large eccentricities.
