Abstract
The holographic techniques developed at SUNY/Buffalo are first reviewed, including: Accurate hologram and reconstruction simulations are generated computationally using fast Fourier and fast Fresnel transforms, particle fields are reconstructed by digital inversion with no loss in resolution, and twin-image suppression is implemented by either phase retrieval or stabilized inverse filter techniques. The application of the techniques to particle dynamic studies of irregular particles has been tested by using a cw Argon-ion laser with a mechanical shutter. Multiexposed holographic films are processed on a COMTAL VISION/20 digital image processor interfaced with VAX-11/730 and VAX-11/750 computers. Resolution of the time-dependent 3-D dynamic holograms will be discussed.
