Abstract

This chapter surveys the connections between race, disability, and biomedical ethics. It focuses in particular on disabled people of color and their experiences in clinical settings. It takes a close look at how many biomedical contexts assume the whiteness of patients, why many people of color have avoided identifying as disabled, and how ableism has been central in the advancement of racism and racial tropes.
