Abstract
It is shown that the absorption coefficient of weakly-damped Alfvén-waves exhibits standing wave oscillations, amplitude of which grows exponentially in an increasing magnetic field. Measurements of the power absorption as a function of magnetic field are used to make a direct determination of the relaxation-time of the charge-carriers in single crystals of bismuth.
