Direct determination of skin depth by a radio-frequency size effect

Abstract

The r.f. absorption in a finite solid-state plasma subject to a d.c. magnetic field is considered. The existence of a size-dependent absorption maximum is demonstrated, and comparison is made with data from Bismuth plates. This method allows a direct determination of the skin depth.
