Abstract

The detection of deflagration of trinitrotoluene (TNT) deposited on a piezoresistive microcantilever was described. Its possible use for explosive-vapor detection were also discussed. The cantilever bends and its resonance frequency shifts due to deflagration of TNT. A sensitive, miniature explosives detection device is made by the sensors. The minimum amount of TNT detected on the cantilever was ≊50 pg and it depended on the cantilever dimensions.
