Abstract

Correction to: Gene Therapyhttps://doi.org/10.1038/gt.2010.139, published online 11 November 2010 The authors wish to correct an error in Figure 3 of this article. During the preparation of the final figures, incorrect representative images were inadvertently included in Figure 3A. Specifically, the panels corresponding to the KO+LPS and KO+Ad.LacZ+LPS groups were mistakenly selected from a set of similar TRAP-stained samples collected at the time of the original experiments. Because multiple images were taken for each condition, two highly similar fields were inadvertently used, leading to partial overlap between the panels. The authors have carefully re-examined the original experimental records and identified the correct representative images for each group. Figure 3A has now been replaced with the appropriate and unique images derived from the same experimental series. The corrected figure accurately reflects the quantitative data shown in Figure 3B. All figure files have been reviewed to confirm that they are correct, unique, and specific to this study. The authors apologize for this oversight. This correction does not affect the results, data interpretation, or conclusions of the study. Corrected Figure 3. MKP-1 gene transfer inhibited osteoclasts formation in bone marrow (BM) cells from MKP-1 KO mice after LPS stimulation. BM cells were extracted from either 8-week-old MKP-1 KO or WT mice. Cells were transduced with Ad.MKP-1 or control Ad. LacZ (MOI 25) for 48 h and then incubated with MEM-alpha media containing 10% FBS, 2 mM glutamine, 50 ng/ml recombinant mouse M-CSF (R&D systems) with or without LPS (1μg/ml from A. actinomycetemcomitans) for 8 days. Osteoclasts were stained by tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining. (a) Multinucleated osteoclasts (arrows shown) in bone marrow cells from MKP-1 KO and WT mice. (b) Number of osteoclasts (more than three nuclei) per well (96-well plate) in bone marrow cells from MKP-1 KO mice and WT mice (n = 4, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001).
