Abstract
Powder metallurgical fabrication of a Cu/Mo composite containing 73.6 wt.% Mo (71 vol.% Mo) was carried out by using either Cu coated Mo powder or a mixture of Cu and Mo powders. The former yielded a Cu/Mo composite of greater density, hardness and abrasive wear resistance than the latter. This is attributed to the separation of the adjacent Mo particles in the composite made from the coated powder and the partial linkage of the adjacent Mo particles in the composite made from the powder mixture.
