N2 - While chlorine has become the short term method of choice for zebra mussel control, other oxidants are also of interest. It is important to identify oxidants that may function as well as chlorine for zebra mussel control but do not result in adverse environmental impacts. This study focused on the use of oxidants to control zebra mussel veligers. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effects of oxidant type (ozone, hydrogen peroxide, and chlorine) and oxidant dose on the inactivation (i.e., death or prevention of settlement) of zebra mussel veligers.
