Abstract

Efficient means of content based image indexing is an important problem in large visual information systems. Research in this area is still in its preliminary stages. We present a new method for content based image query from image databases. Our retrieval approach is based on fractal dimension estimation of image features which are generated using various image data transformation techniques. Results are presented for image query using the wavelet transform as the image transform and Alternating Sequential Filters (ASF) for the fractal dimension estimation.
