Abstract

Cone-beam reconstruction is a major topic in computed tomography. In the context of cone-beam X-ray microtomography, the state of the art in the field is reviewed with an emphasis on approximate algorithms. Feldkamp-type methods represent the main stream in approximate cone-beam reconstruction. Feldkamp-type reconstruction can be decomposized into two steps: cone-beam to fan-beam data conversion and fan-beam reconstruction. Algorithms for synthesis of stereograms from cone-beam data are described. Also, a new interpretation is given to the well known sufficient condition for exact cone-beam reconstruction.
