Abstract

This work focuses on the effect of the unstable nature of wavelets on image registration algorithms. It is demonstrated that the high pass subband is indeed unstable. Taking a one dimensional case, it is shown that if a signal is not the same as the wavelet in any subband, that subband will contain information. If this information content can be exploited then that subband can be used for purposes of edge detection, image registration.
