Abstract

This paper analyzes three signal transforms in analog domain (i) Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), (ii) Discrete Hadamard Transform (DHT), and (iii) Haar Transform for their effectiveness in analog image compression, i.e., maintaining acceptable image quality and the ease of realizing them in analog domain. The work is motivated by the need for energy-efficient analog image compression methods that can be used in internet-of-things (IoT) devices and other energy constrained devices for data collection for machine learning (ML) applications.
