Abstract
This paper presents the design and experimental test of dielectric permittivity sensors based on negative-order-resonances (NOR), which is supported by composite-right-left-hand (CRLH) structures. The proposed type of sensors is realized using high quality Q -factor CRLH substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) resonator. By using the first NOR, -1st mode, a significant level of miniaturization is obtained; and moreover, this mode presents higher sensitivity over the 0th and +1st modes. To validate the proposed concept, testing results for five liquid samples are presented.
