Comorbidities breakout group discussion

Comorbidities such as osteoporosis and bladder and bowel dysfunction have been identified as having an impact on ambulation; and, conversely, limited ambulation can impact these comorbidities. A subgroup of the expert panel focused on comorbidities and addressed the following three questions: 1) What is the evidence specific to comorbidities as it relates to mobility? 2) What is the current practice related to managing comorbidities as it relates to mobility? 3) What is still not known about the interaction of comorbidities and mobility, and how does this impact comprehensive management of key problems facing the patient, family and clinician? This article presents details of the expert panel group discussion and consensus-based operational recommendations regarding the management of comorbidities and mobility impairments.
