Abstract
Haworth and others' suggestion of an east-dipping paleo-subduction zone beneath Newfoundland is both timely and stimulating. I believe that their explanation of the Silurian-Devonian batholiths is unlikely, that the time of the subduction needs to be considered more thoroughly, that the paleodips are invalid, and that the paper could use a more complete reference list.-Author
